WHO, OIF, and Partners Advance Digital CRVS Systems at High-Level Geneva Roundtable

3 November 2025

A high-level roundtable held at the United Nations in Geneva convened leaders from governments, international organizations, and development partners to accelerate investment in digital Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems across the Francophone world. The event, co-organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), underscored the critical role of CRVS systems in safeguarding human rights, strengthening health systems, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Health Data Collaborative (HDC) CRVS Working Group contributed to the coordination and organization of the workshop, supporting a shared platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and alignment among partners committed to digital transformation of CRVS systems.

Discussions focused on building inclusive, interoperable, and resilient CRVS solutions that ensure every life is counted and every person has a recognized legal identity. Governments and partners highlighted the importance of digital CRVS infrastructure for planning, service delivery, equity monitoring, and improved policy decision-making.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to deeper collaboration to accelerate progress in CRVS modernization across Francophone countries, recognizing that robust digital CRVS systems are foundational to human rights protection, stronger health outcomes, and sustainable development.
