25 November 2025

The University of Health Sciences (UHS), together with the WHO Country Office and the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WPRO), successfully concluded a half-day workshop focused on integrating digital health into health sciences curricula. The workshop brought together faculty representatives and technical experts to begin shaping a national digital health curriculum framework.

Dr. Pandula Siribaddana, Consultant to the Health Data Collaborative (HDC), contributed to the discussions, offering global perspectives and supporting the identification of key competencies and curriculum priorities. HDC expressed its commitment to supporting this initiative in Lao PDR, working closely with WHO/WPRO and the WHO Country Office.

The workshop resulted in consensus on core competencies, potential delivery modes, and a roadmap for curriculum development. UHS, WHO, and partners will continue collaborating to advance digital health education and strengthen the future health workforce in Lao PDR.
